Welcome back to the Argo blog! I hope all is well on your end. Today potentially marks the second to last day of this passage. It has been a good day at sea with some sail handling, delicious meals made by Head Chef Eli, and classes. Today’s academics were oceanography with Meg and Seamanship with Kackie. In oceanography, we learned about seawater and used a Refractometer. It’s a fancy tool that shows us the salinity level of a water sample. Super cool! In seamanship, we continued with our Nav Master classes. Maddy, Sliver, and I worked together on some navigation word problems. I think I am finally starting to get the hang of it.
We then had all hands on deck to strike and flake the main sail. It went so well! We are all beginning to understand what needs to be done, how it needs to be done, and when it needs to be done. I will be honest: at first, the art of sail handling seemed daunting, but as our confidence as a crew grows, it becomes more fun each time. The more practice, the better! For the squeeze question tonight I asked everyone “what is your happy place?” I have loved every minute of getting to know my ship mates better. It is crazy to think that tomorrow (the 21st) marks three weeks of this adventure so far. Time is flying by as our friendships, knowledge, and confidence grow. Send good vibes our way so that we have whale sharks to swim with in St. Helena!
Personal message: Hi, family! I love and miss you so very much. I can’t wait to tell you all of my stories. Hope you’re enjoying the cold D.C. temps 🙂
Bye bye
