It was a slow sunrise as the towering Pitons blocked the light till later than we had become accustomed to. Head Chef Mike, with pro team Meghan and Olivia, served up some beautiful Mexican eggs before we got our dive gear ready and waited for the Rangers to pick us up again. This time around, we largely just flip-flopped the groups, and so those who enjoyed a cruise along the reef at shallower depths yesterday got to experience how sea life looks at 23m deep. Eggs were cracked and passed around to see how the pressure kept it together, while red cards were visibly dulled by that part of the spectrum being absorbed by the layers above. The other half of our team got to enjoy the current pushing us along at 10/15m alongside heaps of cool fish and even a truly giant crab!

The afternoon held the delights of Meg’s taxonomy exam in marine biology that I feel everyone is relieved to have finished, and then an awesome treat of ice cream and popcorn to watch an emotional yet insightful documentary called Racing Extinction. Fun fact about whale sharks: they dive too deep for the trackers to deal with.
