Good Morning from Argo!!! Watch team one started their morning bright and early with the 4-8 am watch. We played our favorite activity: trying to predict when we will spot the full orb of the sun (FORB). Maya and Rooke had the closest guesses of 5:32 and 5:37, but unfortunately, the FORB appeared at 5:35. Watch team two woke up excited for their 8-12 am watch. We had two special visitors today: the first was a dead flying fish found on deck by Avery. Thankfully, Meg saved the day and sent it back into the ocean. Zac, Logan, and Whilemina made scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits, and baked beans for lunch!! It was FIREEE. Lanie had the best morning because she was able to sleep all the way until lunch! Sadly, Emily, Lou Lou, Meg, Lizzy, Emma, Payton, Rooke, and Macie were on dishy pit and had to clean the scrambled egg pan 🙁 While the dishy piters were hard at work, Lana, Hays, Charlie, and Nick were deckying.””
There is no better way to end a great meal than to trashmaster! It’s like real life super smash bros.” – Brig and Andrew (the trashmaster experts). After lunch and clean up, we had Seamanship class. We learned about running fixes, though this was challenging, Shane gave us lots of encouragement! Next, we had Leadership class. Maya, Ella, and Emma presented to the class on knowing your leadership identity. We did an activity where one partner closed their eyes and the other partner had to describe how to draw a house. Alex and Avery tied for the best house drawing. After classes, something extremely exciting happened. Instead of just seeing blue, blue, blue, blue, and more blue, we saw a ship!!!! It was huge, and even better, it wasn’t a cargo ship. It was an oil transfer ship from Belgium (we knew this because Alexis and Nick had a conversation with the ship over the VHF radio). Then, Ella, Dylan, and I did a couple of deck walks to practice for our lines test. We have to name every line, sail, and structure on the boat. It was quite challenging, but we are getting better! Dylan is a huge help to all of us because of his sailing experience. When it was time to wake people up for dinner, everyone was up except for Sadie. This meant it was time for a friendly prank. Avery, Lana, and I put green beans in her hands. Let’s just say she was very confused when she woke up, but she still loves us, don’t worry! For dinner, we had fried chicken and potatoes. It was another FIREEE meal prepared by our awesome chefs! The view at dinner was gorgeous because the waves were so flat. After dinner, our second visitor paid us a visit. His name was the King of Time (aka Shane and Zac dancing). We moved time forward one hour!!! This meant that, in total, we have moved the time forward two hours since the BVI’s, which is crazy! After dinner and our guest star, it was time for clean up! Jack was the charthouse steward and deep cleaned it until it was spotless thanks, Jack! Avery, Ella, Greyson, and Henry were the headmasters and did a fantastic job. Now, watch team two is on watch from 6-8, and watch team three is on watch from 8-12. Since we are moving the time forward at 8, watch team three will have a three-hour watch instead of a four-hour watch! The middle of the Atlantic is pretty magical.
