Wow, day 87 already. I can’t believe in 3 days, we will be getting off Argo, leaving our fellow crew members behind, and getting back to reality. With the date so close, everyone’s already talking about what’s next, and it’s amazing to hear so many things have changed since the beginning of the trip. We’ve all grown so much; we’ve learned new things, experienced places like Cocos Keeling where very few people have been, we’ve crossed a whole ocean, and the 30 of us have become a family. I believe we’ve all changed and matured, and many of us are forming ideas for our futures. Maybe we all don’t know exactly what we want to be, but we have a better idea of who we want to be, what we want to do with our lives, and where we want to go next. Today, we had a very early start to our day; I was up at 5:30, waking everybody up for a hike. We spent an hour climbing up Lions Head, one of Cape Town’s gorgeous mountains. Hiking up, we experienced marvelous views of the city, coastline, and mountains beyond. It was perfect weather, with a nice wind to cool us down. Once at the top, we all spent an hour hanging out, enjoying the stunning scenery below and above as we watched the clouds pour over the side of Table Mountain. We had free time for the rest of the day; some of us had begun to pack, some explored the V&A Waterfront, and the rest of us prepared for Christmas on the boat. Since it’s already December, we decided we all wanted to have a little Christmas before we all leave each other. Halle constructed a Christmas tree for us using her crafty abilities and decorated the saloon. We watched Christmas movies, made cookies, and did a white elephant gift exchange. It was a really great day. Sad to say, this will be my last blog; I am excited to start out on my life, but leaving Argo will definitely be hard. I am very appreciative to have had this opportunity, and I will definitely never forget it.
