Location: Terre De Haute, Les Saintes
Hello, this is Nick. I could tell you about my day, but I was on the boat all day doing boring things while the students went to shore, so here’s Ginny with what happened ashore…
Hi! Today, we all had a shore day in Les Saints! When we were getting shuttled to shore in the dinghy, a CRAZy rainstorm began! We are receiving the remnants of a tropical storm, so sometimes it gets super rainy and windy for a short-ish period of time. Once ashore, the first stop for most was COFFEE! Personally, I had three or four cups today. Heaven. Les Saints is a French-speaking island, so the surroundings were very European. The town was very quaint and peaceful, despite all 16 of us running around on the loose as if we’d never seen land in our lives. We all went on a rampage shopping after drinking our coffees and eating our pastries and then drank more coffees and ate more pastries. What more could an adventurer ask for?
After wandering around the island for a while and purchasing way too many articles of clothing, (approximately one epic outfit for our upcoming boat prom and a new wardrobe each), we ran into Sam and Ash (pictured second) while eating lunch! I tried escargot for the first time today, thanks to Sissy’s love of the meal, and it was absolutely awesome. Then! A few of us helped bring groceries back to the boat on a dingy JUST as another rainy moment was occurring! The transfer of groceries into the boat from the dinghy was crazy: picture the scene from Ratatouille where the rats almost get caught with the food in the kitchen, and they have to steal it all and make it out alive in approximately two seconds before death. That was us today. Very exilerating. Then! We watched a little bit of Pirates of the Caribbean, ate dinner, and had a DANCE PARTY!!! The night is young. Maybe we’ll play some pirate Scrabble.
(dear dad…I hope you enjoyed my SECOND!!! Blog post, I filled in for our captain just for you. Also, I’m moving here.)
Thank you all for reading my post! Love ya!
