Location: Bonaire
Diving, thriving, and Jibing. Bonaire has been quiet for quite some time. I think all of us could say we have had an absolute blast docking at this wonderful island. There were so many ups and absolutely zero downs. Today was a day of excellent diving; some of us were working on rescue certifications, while the rest of us got to take the day off and bask in the sun or in the glory between two buns or even just have a moment of relaxation on this great vessel we call Argo. I saw the biggest spotted drumfish you could possibly imagine. If you were to catch and fry that puppy, it would feed a family of three, guaranteed! Even though it was the vegetarian’s turn to cook, we all had many great things to say about his meals today. I don’t think I heard a single complaint about the lack of meat in any of the dishes we gourged upon today, which is quite frankly surprising. However, I do have growing concern for a certain blackish green mark on my hand that has traveled with me since the coral sanctuary in Dominica, which many have said is probably a new form of cancerous growth. I will not let it dissuade me, as our great Doctor Nacho so wisely said, if it is a new disease, I will get to name it, which brings me great joy. Or if it turns out to be a hideous mutation, maybe I will get superpowers like one of the X-Men, which would be an absolute dream. Maybe I will get powers like Aquaman or grow chloroplasts that give me energy from the sun, which makes me live forever; only time will tell. As we all depart from this wondrous island, we will remember many things, like the amazing celebration of Carnival or the wondrous sight at night that we all got to participate in, even the land sailing and windsurfing, which, by the way, is so much more difficult than it looks. At the end of the day, we will all leave Bonaire with a tear in our eyes and our hearts full of joy and excitement, as this island has truly been great to us. So, here’s to many more adventures and excursions and even more stories and laughs.
