Location: Underway to Agadir, Morocco

Amidst all the chaos Argo has been enduring recently, somehow the stars aligned so that I got to be skipper on my favorite day of the year. Im literally not joking, October 30th has always been more exciting than any birthday or holiday my own personal Super Bowl to put this into perspective. For context, today is called Wicked Day in the theatre community. If you think you know Wicked from the most recent movie, youre wrong. Wicked Day celebrates the anniversary of Wicked, the musical, opening on Broadway in 2003. Today she turns 22! You might be wondering, Why is this relevant to Argo? Awesome question, its not. Im just very enthusiastic about this day because Wicked taught me a lot about myself, other people, and the world, and also gave me my best friends (hi guys!!!).

This morning I woke up the students to a few theatrical hits, including a couple songs from Wicked obviously. If it wasnt Idina Menzel or Jonathan Bailey motivating everyone to put their feet on the floor, it definitely was the cast of Pitch Perfect, Newsies, and Swept Away, a Broadway musical I worked on a year ago about a shipwreck (ooooo spooky). Hopefully, no immersive Swept Away experiences for Argo today, however, because we are currently on a mini passage to another city along Moroccos coast, Agadir, where we will dock and head out to Marrakech for our much-anticipated overnight glamping excursion.

This morning, students had a Marine Bio review and exam, a line walkthrough for their upcoming line exam in Seamanship, and another class for #navmaster. When I asked them how the Marine Bio exam was, they said it was good, so Ill take that as a win. Lunch was a lit soup and macaroni made by Maria, Sabrina, and Matthew. Then we took our last ocean showers until the Caribbean (CRAZY) and had a few hours of free time, which we spent napping or playing spicy UNO, of course. Around 3 pm, we got all hands on deck, raised anchor and two sails, and while doing so, were graced with a dinghy from a nearby boat in the anchorage coming over to say bonsoir several times before we kindly asked them to back away.

Everyone is super hype about Halloween tomorrow and planning spooky pranks and costumes. I will personally be continuing my tradition of dressing up as the first mate, so stay tuned for some awesome photos.

Happy Wicked day to those who celebrate and those whove changed me for the better.
And shoutout to my small armies in NY and NC.
Love you, Dad.

Shoutout to my mom! Happy birthday! I love and miss you so much! – Hailey
