Location: Saba
We started the day with our last Marine Biology Test. After the test, we all dinghied over in crazy weather, which made for crazy airtime. After we got to the base of the island, we hitchhiked up to the bottom of town, which was above where we were at the time. Explored bottom town for a bit and found ourselves in the Bizzy B cafe waiting out some down pouring rain. Once the rain piped down, I hitchhiked up to Windward Town with Big Ben and Kackie. Once I got there, I met up with everyone else and went to Sea Saba, which is Saba’s local scuba shop. Most, if not all, bought at least one clothing item from there. We then moved down to a small restaurant and ate some lunch. Went to a grocery store as it started raining again. It doesn’t rain a lot during the dry season in Saba, so many locals were thrilled that their water tanks were all getting filled up. They also have no town water and run solely off tank water and bottled. After the rain passed, we left the store and went to Jobean. A lady who blows glass. Some of us, Ben, Hannah, Zoe, and I made our own glass bead. Then we hitchhiked our way to bottom town with little Ben. I downloaded three episodes of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and had a safe dingy ride back to the boat.
PS from Heather- (Saba is a really special island with almost no crime at all, which provides a uniquely awesome opportunity for safe hitchhiking to meet locals in the community😊)
