Location: Panama City, Panama

We had a much-needed slow start to the morning after the excitement of yesterday. Our pilot showed up at the boat probably around 8:30 am (not sure on the timing at all), then we set off for our second day of Panama Canal crossing. Todays locks were much more mellow as we were descending instead of rising in the locks. When rising in the locks, we had to constantly take in slack on the lines, which, with the enormous canal lines, gets very tiring. Thankfully, when descending, all we had to do on the line crew was ease slowly. We got through the last lock around 3 pm (also not sure on the timing of this at all), and finally made it to the Pacific Ocean. It was mesmerizing watching the massive cargo ships as we motored to our anchorage. Speaking of big boats, I was also very appreciative that the huge tanker behind us in the lock didnt smush us. Again, we saw Colbies mom cheering us on. Speaking of, she has sparked a lot of conversation on how in the world she got to her spectating spot yesterday; did she bushwhack it through the jungle? None of us knows; nonetheless, we all appreciated the support. Along with Colbies mom, there were probably 75 people watching us go through the locks in the spectator area, which was neat. All in all, it was a great feeling to get through the canal and onto what feels like the meat and potatoes of the voyage.

All the best,
