Location: St. Barths
Ocean Star awoke her mildly exhausted crew today with an impromptu fire drill to greet the day, but more importantly, it marked our arrival into Gustavia Harbor in St. Barths of the French West Indies. Once docked and cleared through customs, we enjoyed a free day to roam around and take in all that St. Barths had to offer (or “Franceland” as we like to call it since French is the primary culture and spoken language here). Some of the crew opted for the shopping scene, with many chic boutiques, and a stop at the local creperie was a must on the to-do list for many. There was also a glorious coastal beach nearby, where a handful of us took advantage of some afternoon paddleboarding, and exhilarating cliff jumps into the ocean. As evening set, we all came together again to share stories of the day and chow down on a most satisfying meal at La Select (famously known as the location where Jimmy Buffett found his inspiration for the song “Cheeseburger in Paradise”). Needless to say, it lived up to the hype, and we aren’t ready to depart. But we’re in luck, for we’ll be here a full day tomorrow as well! Your Skipper, Nicole
