Location: Underway to Havana, Cuba
Today marked our second day on passage heading to Havana. Everyone has established routines on passage at this point, so days go by with ease now. The morning started off with my watch team, Watch Team 3, at 4:00 a.m. After going through the four hours with no one falling asleep, we all headed down to go back down below decks to catch up on some much-needed rest. The whole boat was up and moving around 11:45 for a delicious lunch made by Tina (my favorite cook at the moment). After lunch, we did our clean-up jobs and headed down below for a marine bio class with Steve and a navigation MTE class with Eric. During our break between classes, we went up to put up the fisherman sail, which is the sixth and final sail for us to raise. It was the first time for us to have all six sails up, and it made us all feel like really accomplished mariners. Following class, we headed up for showers, and then everyone branched off. Some watching movies, some sleeping, and the active watch team was on deck until dinner. For dinner, we had delicious Cajun chicken thighs, mashed potatoes, biscuits, and a veggie medley. We were then surprised with dessert: Churros with a traditional Spanish chocolate dipping sauce that was absolutely scrumptious. We are all looking forward to arriving in Havana and seeing more of this insanely beautiful, incredibly cool island.
