Location: Port Louis, Mauritius

Today we asked for our first full day in Mauritius. The morning started off with classes for the students, which consisted of Marine Biology and Seamanship. During this time of fascinating education, the staff took to fixing up Vela with small projects that help keep her running year-round. With a freshening up of connections and wiring in the heads led by me and Zoe, and some steering gear action targeted by Mac, and of course, the lovely undercover operation run by Riley, we made a seamless team. By the time classes were over, it was SHORE TIME. The students fled the vessel for the first time in 14 days and wandered around the streets of Mauritius.
Some headed directly for McDonald’s while others wandered the shops. It all came to a culmination at the end of the day with a fantastic stir-fry made by the one and only Maia. It was delicious! Maia
and Alice had a PSCT class and were remembering all the horn sounds for vessels and their manoeuvres in
preparation for their exam! Then off to bed, but not before a delightful shore shower!!!
