Location: Santa Cruz, Galapagos
Hiiiiiiiii :):) Today was definitely a 10/10 day. This morning, the group was split up into two groups, with me, Maisy, Jake, Paloma, Maya L, Graham, and James diving today, and the rest of the group tomorrow. We woke up at six and had a quick breakfast of yogurt and granola before getting picked up by the water taxi and heading ashore. We got all our dive kits into the trucks and headed up to the north side of the island, which was about 30 minutes away. Driving is one of those random things we all get excited about since we dont get to ride in cars too often anymore. When we got there, we piled into the boat and went to our first dive site, North Seymour.
Id always heard so much about the wildlife in the Galapagos so I was so excited to dive and see what it was like. On the way out we finally saw some blue footed boobies for the first time, so the crew was thrilled to say the least. When we got in the water, we were immediately greeted by some devil rays, which were amazing. I havent done much diving in the Pacific yet, so the fish were so different and unique to me. There were over 30 white tip reef sharks sleeping, so we got to sit and watch them for a while, which was so cool. We got back on the boat to head to our second dive spot and they gave us a delicious lunch of fish and rice with some juice. It was pretty overcast at this point so I was freezing as per usual, and so ready to get back into the water. We saw so many big schools of colorful fish and more eagle rays, so the dive was definitely a success. We got out of the water and were given a much-needed warm towel before heading back. At this point, it was pretty rainy and everyone was pretty exhausted, so the car ride home consisted of everyone taking life-changing naps. We all got back to the boat and just chilled for a while before dinner. Ben, Maya L, and Jake made some pesto pasta, which was the perfect way to end this amazing day.
