Ocean Star is sparkling after a morning of “Boat Appreciation” and the last provisioning period of the semester. After lunch we headed to George Dog Island and the infamous Bronco Billy’s for the second dive of the naturalist specialty. The shipmates explored the canyons and swim-throughs of the site looking for signs of predator-prey relationships, symbioses and human impact to discuss after the dive. We then loaded back onboard Ocean Star for the short motor out to Gorda Sound and an evening of preparation for the navigation exam tomorrow. Chris’s birthday celebrations brought a bit of light entertainment to all the studying with some cake and a game of pin the tail on the donkey.
