My watch team (watch team 2) had the 04:00 to 08:00 watch today. We were all pretty tired and had to be reminded to stay awake a few times. A couple of people had Ramen for breakfast, and we placed our bets for sunrise time. We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise, and Owen won. Sunrise was at exactly 06:50. After watch, we all went back to bed for a nap before lunch. Some very studious students were using their free time to get some assignments done. Smash made some delicious Chicken Barbecue Sandwiches for lunch.
Everyone was feeling a lot better today, and most of us are no longer struggling with seasickness. We’re also all managing to sleep a lot more and are struggling less with day-to-day activity on the passage under deck.
After lunch and cleanup, we had a really serious Monday meeting. We ate Banana Bread that Smash made for us while reevaluating our phone usage onboard. We all agreed we had been talking to each other less than the first week, as we had been spending time on our phones. So, we unanimously agreed to a voluntary phone prison and to a no-phone policy in the Galley.
We had an Oceanography class with Steph afterward. Everyone was quite awake and felt well during class. Nobody had to leave because they felt seasick. We all had showers in the heads afterward.
Everyone except watch team 2 had free time, which they used to sleep or for coursework. We were on watch and had a lot of fun. We were all chatting throughout the entire watch as everyone was wide awake. We were all surprised at how attached we’d gotten to our bunks. This was our most enjoyable watch yet. We also got to see dolphins, and Steph got very excited. She screamed out for everyone to come on deck to see them and facepalmed in the cockpit. We all had a laugh. The Dolphins did not stay close to the boat very long, so not everyone was able to see them.
After dinner and clean up, most of us will try to go to bed early to get enough sleep before our next watch. Some of us still have to do some coursework before bed, though.
