Location: Fernando de Noronha
Hi everybody!! Today was our first full day in Fernando de Noronha, a place I’ve been excited to visit ever since my friends who work on Vela were here last year! They told me it was one of the highlights of the trip, which certainly seems true from all the positive reports I got from the students when they returned home from the island tour.
“A bunch of beautiful beaches!” – kiki
“I saw 4 sharks!” – nini
“The beach we went to was ranked most beautiful beach in the world, and it was” – Olympus
“I saw 2 stingrays and a lemon shark” – Eli
“One of the beaches had huge waves! We waited for them to crash at the waters edge and then sprinted up the beach” – Talia
“Me, Zac, Benny, Cecil, and Darien all tried to surf a party wave together” – Isaac
“Kiki and I saw 2 baby nurse sharks and lots of fish” -Sylver
“JP the tour guide was awesome! He had fun names for all the rocks” – Darien
“I saw an egret jump on a horses back” – Benny
“I saw a sting ray!” – Kara
“We got crushed while body surfing! It was sick” – Zac
“Lunch was SO good, we all had massive meals AND dessert” – Cecily
“Each beach was better than the last” – Maddy
Soooooo, yes- it sounded like an awesome day!! Today on board, Calum, Nicole, and I got some boat projects done while the boat was empty, but we are looking forward to the opportunity to see a bit of the island tomorrow when we go provisioning! This is just a quick stop, as we ae now 2/3 done with our Atlantic crossing. But the shortstop will certainly be memorable and will serve as a great reset for the next passage to Barbados!
