Today was an exciting day because it was the first day of sailing on Ocean Star for this Sea-mester crew. After a wonderful breakfast of cereal and fruit, we finished prepping the boat for sailing and hauled up the anchor. Our first sail-raising experience went very smoothly, and we set off for Anegada on close reach. Once we got the main, fore, stay, and jib sails up, we decided we might as well raise the flying jib and fisherman as well. After all six sails were up, we easily blew past the Action Quest fleet that was also headed towards Anegada. Once we sighted Anegada, we turned around, completed a few tacks, and headed into Gorda Sound under full sail. Soon after we arrived, there was a snorkel excursion to the mangroves led by Beaker. Once the snorkelers returned and a small propane problem was solved, a wonderful dinner was served, followed by an Oceanography classdefinitely a fantastic day for all aboard Ocean Star.
