Location: Mountain Point, British Virgin Islands
Today we were given an introduction to sailing technique and rigging. First we split into groups and went over the duties of the different halyards and sheets throughout Ocean Star. Following that we played a little game which in which we refined our knowledge of the rigging. After lunch we began our first sail, going over different manuevers such as tacking and jibing. Then we made our way to our new anchor spot at Mountain Point, making a brief stop for a man overboard drill. That night we had our first marine biology class and then watched “Life Aquatic” with Simon.
