Location: Argo

I woke up this morning to a beautiful sunrise. As skipper, it was my job to wake everyone up, so I woke the girls with Rhianna’s song “Love on the Brain” and the boys with “Drops of Jupiter” by Train — both are songs I love. After breakfast, we got ready for our first real day of diving. The already certified divers got to relax first thing until Rob convinced FiFi and me to do 100 sit-ups (I did crunches). While the other divers got their tanks ready to breathe underwater for the first time, we listened to music and hung out in the sun. It was beautiful out. The sun was shining, and I pointed out to the others that there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, to which Mac responded, “Actually, I see one over there.” I laughed. In the early afternoon, the already-certified divers and I went snorkeling and saw some cool fish. My favorite was bright blue and orange because the color mix was something I had never seen before. Later, we researched the marine creatures we saw and added them to our dive log for Marine Bio. After snorkeling (and scuba diving for most of the others), we had a much-needed lunch before preparing to go back into the water again. This was when I was able to scuba. Standing on the side of Argo with our gear and flippers, we stepped off into the ocean and dove beneath the boat. The sun rays shining through the crystal water were breathtaking (although you can’t hold your breath while diving). The highlight of my day was laying out on the deck in the sun with Hilary after our dive. Once the rest of the divers returned, we had a delicious dinner of grilled cheese (my favorite) and tomato soup. As we ate, the moon began to rise a bright orange, which was the perfect end to a beautiful day! Tonight, however, I am nervous about my sleep schedule because I have an anchor watch at 4:30 a.m.
