After dinner last night, we woke up to a rainy, gloomy-looking watch. The sort of rain where no matter how good your foul weather gear is supposed to be, within an hour, everyone is soaked through. However, our being wet didn’t stop us from singing in the rain. Then all of a sudden, from out of the darkness, the water started glowing, but this wasn’t the usual bioluminescence sparkles. These were huge glowing patches of glowing jellyfish floating by. Suddenly the rain seemed irrelevant as everyone who was awake came on deck to watch this beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s magic moments like this that make being on watch in the rain totally worth it.

A big win for the whole crew today was that all the students passed their seamanship crew exam. This is the section of the course that goes into general shipboard knowledge about seamanship, safety, and the maritime industry.
The food today was incredible and just what we needed late into a long passage, loaded nachos for lunch and pizza for dinner. In total, the team made nine pizzas which are super impressive on a rolling boat.

Some of the crew also caught a wahoo today. The crew who likes to fish have put the lines out every single day of passage, so it’s amazing when they get some results. I am currently smelling cooking fish from the galley, which everyone is excited to try.

Finally, we on watch team 2 are watching as the sun sets on another fantastic evening. The crew becomes super close on passage, so we are all valuing each other’s company going into our final few days of watch on this passage.
