Today marked the 10th day of our voyage at sea, and it was one of the best yet! I woke the crew up with the song “Here Comes the Sun,” leaving them with a few minutes of extra sleep before we ate a delicious breakfast of granola and yogurt. We departed the boat for land shortly after finishing breakfast to embark on our first shore excursion. We hiked the amazing Goat Path! The views were breathtaking, and we saw some baby goats. I think I can speak for the majority of the crew when I say the best part of the day was eating our first meal onshore, with many of us thrilled to eat cheeseburgers and fries. While on land, others stocked up on snacks. We returned to the boat around 1:30 for our academic oceanography and marine bio classes. For squeeze tonight, we discussed our favorite ice cream flavors, the fish we have seen on dives, and our appreciations of the day. All in all, today was a great day, and I enjoyed my time being skipper, seeing everyone enjoy parts of the trip that we have all longed for.
