Location: Bonaire

Hi! Sorry, this wasn’t posted last night. We had such a fun day that I forgot I had a job to do! We were supposed to have eggs for breakfast, but someone overslept, so we had yogurt bowls. Still yummy. We all cleaned up, put on our tennis shoes, and made our way to where the taxi would pick us up. Some of us were lucky enough to see flamingos on our walk. We were traveling in style for sure. A multicolored, windowless school bus waited there to take us to blokarting. It was a quick 15-minute drive there. What a strange landscape Bonaire has. Desert with forests of cacti 10 ft tall. We arrived at the carting place, and it looked deserted. No one was to be found. Our taxi left us there to fend for ourselves while we waited for the blokarting instructors to show up. After close to an hour of patiently waiting, they arrived! We split into three groups and got started. The carts definitely surprised us with how fast they were. Only a few people were capsized with only a little bloodshed. It was super interesting to talk to the founder of that business because he is a professional blow cart racer in New Zealand. Some people were slower than others because they were cursed with small sails. When we were finished, we headed back to the boat for lunch and a quick turnaround to go to Karnaval.

All the girls got ready while the guys disappeared to the showers. They took so long that we left without them to go get gelato. Once we were all congregated there, we made our way to the parade. The costumes were too festive and vibrant, and the music was so loud and fun. Some of us took pictures with people in the parade who were dressed up. What a fun time that was. Once the parade had come to a close, we were let loose until 6, when we were supposed to meet at the brewery. Since we had two hours to kill, we split off into groups and went to different places to have appetizers. I heard the calamari was amazing.

When 6 o’clock rolled around, we all met at the brewery and signed out. There was an outdoor seating section in the back, which is where we sat. It was so cute with vines, flowers, and paintings. We all enjoyed some beverages. The food was great, and we all had a good time getting to know eachother better. On the way back we stopped for gelato, again our night was filled with lots of laughter and good conversations.

Today was one of my favorite days on this trip so far, so I was so happy to get to write this blog! I’m sure I missed some funny moments, but I think I got the gist of the day!

(Hi mom, dad, and family! I miss you guys so much!)
