We woke up early this morning to do some laundry before eating some delicious chocolate chip pancakes and start off the day’s activities by bringing some benches up on the deck to have our Oceanography class outside. I’ve never had a teacher who has back-flipped into the water to retrieve a stray expo marker cap that fell overboard. New experiences every day, that’s for sure. Later we all went for a snorkeling lab by Red Mangroves to identify some fish and other creatures, such as Upside Down Jellyfish or juvenile Barracuda. Once we dried off and had some lunch, all the shipmates who were working for their first scuba certification had to take the Open Water final exam but looked forward to sailing around on a Hobie Catamaran. After learning some more about points of sail and capsizing the Hobie Cat, I decided it was shower time and got ready for what I believe is a well-deserved night off for the whole crew on Virgin Gorda.
