Location: Les Saints
Today started with an amazing breakfast from Sylver, it was a pineapple upside-down cake served with yoghurt and granola. Breakfast has really become special to me on the boat because it’s a chance to sit down with friends, and at home, I’m usually in a rush to go to school or sleep past it. After breakfast, we picked up a hook and started our day sail to Les Saints. We made really good time, and the passage only took an hour and a half. These quick passages are refreshing, but a part of me misses the week-long passages staring at nothing but the ocean. During our passage, we students had the privilege of plotting our course to Les Saints and doing running fixes on the half hour, which kept us occupied. Before we knew it, we were dropping anchor and putting the boat to bed before we got some shore time. As soon as we put Argo to sleep, we rushed into dinghies and started to get the lay of the land. Some people went to boutiques looking for new fancy French swimwear, others went to grocery stores to get necessities, but I ran to the closest ice cream shop and devoured a cone. It was funny to watch Darien speak to the lady behind the counter in English but with a French accent…or something like one?? The kind lady was speaking English, but Darien wasn’t comprehending, which led to an awkward conversation, but it all worked out in the end. After some time to stretch the legs, we got back on the boat and lay on deck before hopping in for ocean showers, where we were very invested in throwing a ball to each other. Followed by ocean showers, we enjoyed an adobo dinner this time cooked by Shane and Isaac due to the mysterious stomach bug, which is now being called “The Huntsman Virus,” taking down our fearless head chef, Sylver. For our squeeze question tonight I asked the people what we would do if we visted each others hometowns, and if anyone plans on visiting Rockport, Maine I recommend hiking beach hills, swimming at beauchamp point or getting a coffee at Bleeker and Greer.
P.S.- Hey Ma, Pa, Grandma, Grandpa, and friends back home, I hope you guys are braving the typical Maine spring snow. I can’t wait to see you guys and tell you about all my adventures- Love B
