Hello Argo Supporters,
Day 80 was a nice “catch-up” day for our crew. For some, it started before wake-up with a sunrise walk up the nearest hill. They explored an old fortress and saw baby goats! My morning started early as well, as I was on the 6 am to 7 am anchor watch. I love watching the sunrise on the still boat before everyone else gets up. I will really miss the sunrises and sunsets on Argo, they are so vast and beautiful.
We had peanut butter protein balls for breakfast, thanks to our head chef, Eli. After a mellow morning, we got ready for a dive! Zac, Benny, Talia, Cecily, Dairen, Nini, and I had a blast. Isaac and Eli completed their last advanced open water dive and are now advanced divers! On our fun dive, we saw an octopus and plenty of territorial sergeant majors. Before we surface swam over to where the dive took place, Calum decided to test my rescue diver skills and quickly became a panicked diver. Shoved underwater, I was laughing until I realized my regulator was not in my mouth. Oops! I recovered and got away safely. It is so cool to practice in real time what we have been learning! After our dive, we took to the deck to sunbathe. The weather was nice, and many of us brought homework or books on deck. Lunch was yummy burrito bowls. After lunch, a second dive took place with just students in the water and staff on surface support. It is nice to see everyone becoming more comfortable divers. On the second dive, they saw a sea turtle! While the rest were diving, a few of us caught up on sleep and schoolwork. It was bittersweet turning in my last assignment today. I am excited to be done with school, but this means the end is near. After the dive and some study sessions, most of us were in bed. I think many of us took the best nap of our lives today.
We are ending day 80 with a movie and some popcorn. It is hard to believe that we are in the single digits of days left now. I am soaking up every laugh, hug, squeeze, ocean shower, anchor watch, and chit chat. Life on Argo has become a unique normal that will be hard to leave. This is my last blog post, so goodbye and thank for you for the support.
Personal message: Mom, Dad, and Brady, do not forget that Oreo cheesecake when you come to pick me up from the airport!!!!! 🙂
