Location: Underway to Dominica

After a night of sailing through squalls and getting our foulies drenched in the rain, it was a pleasant surprise to wake up to sunny 78-degree weather with a gentle ocean breeze. For us girls in the Fo’c’sle, it was great that we jibed early this morning because it put us on a portside tack, allowing Tait, Sydney, and me to sleep in our beds without the fear of falling out of them 🙂 For lunch, we all enjoyed the sunshine and the smooth sailing as we ate Cajun Mac & Cheese. And let me tell ya, that Mac & Cheese was BOMB! Soon after, we had an Oceanography class and study hall, which allowed us to catch up on the assignments that previously loomed over our heads. After class, we cleaned up on deck for shower time. For those of you who don’t know what “shower time” looks like while underway, picture a power hose pumping saltwater onto the deck while we rock back and forth and rinse off underneath it. The closest comparison I can make is a sailing version of the amusement park ride, Splash Mountain… It’s cold, but it’s also pretty fun. And to finish off the day, we had pulled pork sandwiches, homemade buns, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and cajun beans for dinner. Shoutout to Tina for making us some delicious, beautiful meals and feeding us well 🙂 Pictured in the images is the sunrise we saw this morning; deckie squad (Syd, Jonas, Peter, and Cole) scrubbing the deck after our meal; and CJ and James cleaning up the cabin floors and heads (aka. Bathrooms). P.S. James and CJ’s facial expressions are candid and accurate reflections of how they feel about their jobs today.

Also, Hi dad, love you very much & by the way, I am watching The Martian tonight as promised.
