Location: Soufriere, St. Lucia

Today started on a sad note as we had to say goodbye to Kris (Cap) as he went on to his next journey. We all really really have appreciated the past 45 days with you, all the laughs, memories, experiences we have all had with you as well as all you have taught us. After saying all of our goodbye’s we continued with passage prep (getting Ocean Star ready for our sail to the Pitons) and motored our way off of the dock. We then had lunch which consisted of pasta and vegetables as well as the obvious leftovers as always. After lunch, we put the sails up to continue our voyage on this peaceful afternoon. We also set the Jib and flying jib up for the first time this semester which everyone greatly enjoyed as well as the feeling of understanding of how to maneuver and take control of the boat. Once we arrived in Soufriere, we were all overwhelmed by the sheer size and beauty of our surroundings but also got ready and attached the boat to the mooring line. Once this was done, we took Irv back on deck and started putting Ocean Star to sleep by putting all of the sail covers on and coiling all of the lines. After we completed all of this, we could finally truly take in the beauty of our surroundings as well as take a much-needed saltwater shower which was greatly appreciated (except for all of the jellyfish stings). Dinner was about ready at this time, so we all enjoyed Eulalie and co.’s wonderful fried chicken sandwiches and amazing salad. Once we finished dinner, we did our usual cleanup, but after cleanup, we had our mid-semester check-in where we discussed the issues, joys that we had discovered living on the boat the past 45 days, as well as how to make the rest of our trip as enjoyable and easy for everyone.

I also tried taking a lot of pictures to make up for last time, so I hope you all enjoy it (sorry they did not all upload in order)
