Location: Statia

Today’s Agenda: Diving and shore time.
Today, we dove two sites. Both of these are wrecks. The first wreck was a barge and a small fishing boat at around 70ft. We saw a number of Barracuda, turtles, and sting rays. At the second site, there is an old fishing boat. Roughly 300ft in length at a depth of 85 feet. This boat was built in Taiwan and then used in St. Martin. While in St. Martin, it bashed the dock and put it out of commish. The government here in Statia bought the boat for a singular dollar. This was solely for the purpose of sinking it to form an artificial reef. This happened after the marine park was formed, causing the fisherman to lose their grounds and business. The boat was sunk just outside of the park. After diving, the lovely folks in the immigration office demanded to see our faces. Luckily, this turned into an easy process for everyone except for Freddie. The next part of our day took place at the Cool Corner, a Chinese bar and grill… as expected. Most people found themselves eating lunch here. The food was great, and the portions were large, the best of both worlds. At the end of lunch, Maddie cuddled and claimed a stray dog. Most steered clear at the sight of the large oozing tumor near its left hind leg. Not Maddie. After lunch, the group split up; some went to the grocery store, and
some went to meet others at the beach. Dinghys transported us back to the boat in time for dinner. Dinner tonight was burgers and fries with an abrupt ending of rain. Another great day out of the few that remain. “Please write two more sentences,”- said Allie. Here are my two more sentences. Tomorrow, we have an early start on Nevis!!
