Land ho. The lights of Sao Vicente greeted us as we awoke for the 6 am watch. It has been five days of passage life since we last spotted land. Though I am glad to see Cape Verde, and I am ready to explore a remote place of the earth, there is something about life at sea that I will miss. The rhythm of the watches, the people, and the boat is an experience unto itself. The vastness of the ocean can be mind-numbing. There were several days where it was just us and the ocean. It was a peaceful feeling. Yet, all the same, I was happy and excited to watch the sunrise as the jagged landscape of the Cape Verde Islands came into view. I feel it will be a wonderful place for Argo to rest for a few days before we head across the ocean. -Casey J.
