It’s our third day abroad, and the crew is starting to feel more like family by the day. We are all getting along fantastically. It’s only been 72 hours, but it feels like I’ve known these folks for a year.
We started our day with scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, and a lively energy in the air. Once we were all fueled up, we had the uncertified divers stay on board and prepare for their first breath underwater while the certified divers went to the beach to enjoy the sun and sail our little sailboat we had on board.
When lunchtime arrived, we all gathered up in the cockpit to enjoy the quesadillas Emma and Shelby had made for us. We had a short lunch because we wanted to get our uncertified divers (Zoey, Nora, Ara, Joey, Will, Florence, and Nate) in the water and start their training dives while the rest of us (Johnathan, Garrett, Runyan, Charley, Lucie and I) would spend the rest of the afternoon swimming, snorkeling, hanging out, playing chess and doing our laundry.
At around 5, all our divers were back on board to start our ocean showers. Once dinner was ready, we all gathered in the cockpit and watched sunset while we enjoyed the chicken tikka masala that Emma and Lucie had made for us.
When everyone had finished dinner, we decided to end the meal with an epic chant. “When I say left side you say?” ” STRONG SIDE.” “LEFT SIDE.” “STRONGSIDE.”
We ended the evening with lots of singing and many giggles.
