Location: Mt.Point Virgin Gorda BVI.
The fourth day with Seamester started early for most students on anchor watch. The quiet, peaceful scene of the anchor watch transitioned into the sound of excitement following the sunrise. Our morning started with a quick passage to Mt. Point on the island of Virgin Gorda. Mt. Point is known for its shipwreck diving and jaw-dropping natural scenery. To start our day, our amazing chefs Dan, Charlie, and Anda prepared an oatmeal bake with yogurt and fruit. Following breakfast, our certified open water divers geared up for a shipwreck dive. This shipwreck provides a space for a vast amount of marine life, including fire slugs, moon jellyfish, and sergeant majors protecting their eggs.
Students back on the boat had fun sailing our Zest, a small sailing dinghy around the area. After diving and sailing, everyone enjoyed a chicken quinoa wrap lunch. Following lunch, our dishy pit became a music pit, and sounds of singing filled the halls of Vela. Our divers, working on their open water certification, then went to their last confinement dive, where a stingray was spotted. Our open-water divers enjoyed swimming around the boat and jumping off the bow (Runyon even climbed it). After a great day of diving and swimming, a special meal of hamburgers and french fries was served. Day by day, our cleaning process gets faster and more fun. Our dishy pit timed themselves to see how fast they could finish washing all the dishes. As the sun sets around Vela, we are all looking forward to another awesome day.
