Location: Gustavia, St. Barths

It’s day 63 on our journey through the Caribbean. The island of St. Barths, in my opinion, has been one of the most beautiful and fun islands we’ve been to so far. After breakfast, we had free time to explore the island. Some of the students went down to the beach for volleyball and said they had an amazing time catching some rays and enjoying the friendly, beautiful beaches here. Other students went into town to go shopping and check out some local food establishments. I stayed aboard to catch up on some sleep that was much needed after a long day of surfing the day before. After my nap, a few of us got the chance to go diving outside of Gustavia. We all felt pretty cool as we dinghied out to the site in our own boats and used our own tanks and equipment, while many other tourists had to go out there with dive companies on their crowded boats. Will led the dive for one of his Dive Master skills, and it was truly amazing. We saw some of the biggest fish we’ve seen thus far on the trip! After our dive, we came back to the boat and enjoyed a pasta dinner made by Ryn, the chef of the day. Following dinner, we had some Student Leadership presentations from Ryn and Andi on Music Theory and American Sign Language. Very interesting and educational indeed!
