Location: Essaouira, Morocco

Everyone woke up in a great mood because we finally made it to Morocco! We had a class on isometrics taught by Ted in the morning, and then we took long dinghy rides to shore to explore the town. It was great to be on land again. Coming into the dock, the harbor was filled with traditional blue African fishing boats. It was quite a sight. Everyone walked from there through the arches and into the old town of Essaouira. What a culture shock after being in the Med for so long! Many of us spent most of the day walking through the markets, haggling for clothes, jewelry, or wooden boxes and eating traditional Moroccan food. Some were better at bargaining than others. The highlight of the day, at least for me, was camel riding! We took camel rides along the beach and saw old ruins where Jimmy Hendrix once played. It was such a cool experience and such a beautiful day. After returning to the boat and having dinner, it was back to work with passage prep. We left around midnight for Agadir. It was a short but very sweet visit to Essaouira.
