NOTHING IS PROMISED ON THE SEAexcept ramen and red bull
Last night during dinner, we were informed that there was not one, but two storms headed our way, one being a few days away. Because of this, we had to change our course once again and scratch our plan to sail to St. Kitts and Nevis. Instead, we basically had to drop everything and begin a delightfully short 16-hour voyage to Antigua, where we would camp out the rest of the trip. After quickly securing everything on the boat 40/40, Arlo went into (very minor) foot surgery to remove a mystery splinter via tweezers and a headlamp, performed by Maddie and Griff and spectated by all. After digging around in his foot and having no luck, they gave up and went to bed. Prolly for the best tho, when is he not running around causing a ruckus, at least hell be somewhat slowed down for now. Spirits rose when it was time for watch team 2 to take over between the lively hours of 1 and 3 am (the best watch team consisting of Paige Arlo and I). We had a lovely time singing the Pitch Perfect riff over and over, as well as doing bow watch, where we were sprayed with ocean water and strapped in to avoid being thrown off. After finally anchoring around 2:00 pm, we finally got to indulge in our nutrient-filled lunch of chicken ramen noodles. The rest of the day we were just doing our best to stay awake. We learned about rules for CPR, ship knots, and different fire extinguishers to use during various boat emergencies during our ICC and EFR classes. Finally, at dinner, we had some delicious curry, broccoli, and rice, which afterward was thrown at me, but also into the water compacted into rice snowballs. Check out my awesome follow-through in my shot of the ocean pictured above. Everyones pleased that that was our last passage of the trip, especially Katand now everyone else just gets to chill and listen to my speaker instead of my own awful singing of pitch perfect.
Arrivederci for now,
-Pips
P.S. Send ur prayers for the Ocean Star crew who has still not arrived after 24 hours of sailing for them, Major L. (Staff note: they just pulled in, and they are all good, just a little bit slower than us 🙂 )
