Location: From St. Barths to St. Eustatia
To the relaxing melodies of Jack Johnson, the team mentally prepared themselves for their last day docked in St. Barths. After breakfast, everyone began the passage prep checklist for St Eustatia (AKA Statia), only to find out that the need for an engine part would give everyone an extra day to explore the island. One group made their way to Shell Beach, where they were amazed by the rosy hue of the shelly sand and the sight of locals jumping from the rocks into the Caribbean water. Another group hiked through hilly back roads behind the airport to St. Jean’s beach, where they could sunbathe at the end of the runway and watch the air traffic overhead. After a relaxing day of shopping, beach hopping, and trips to the creperies, the crew returned just around dinner to cast Ocean Star from the dock and make way for Statia in the evening. Certainly, one of the most memorable parts of the day was the amazing sail alongside a golden sunset.
