Location: Soufriere, St Lucia
We started off the day by waking up and getting all of our SCUBA gear ready for our Reef Check dives with the Soufriere Marine Management Area or SMMA. After breakfast, Kirsty took us ashore and ran through how we would conduct our reef check. After our briefing we went out to the reef and ran our checks on a dive sight called superman’s flight, called so because this was where Christopher Reeves flew between the Pitons in Superman 2. After a quick lunch, we went out for our second reef check and afterwards we all had some time to relax and get some work done. Tonight we had our OCE presentations we were all enlightened on hurricanes, turtles, oils spills, mangroves, hydrothermal vents and many other subjects.
