Today was Rome day! We woke up bright and early to catch a morning train and beat the crowds. As a group, we visited the Coliseum and the Roman Forum. In our group we had everything from people who had already been to Rome, and took a leisurely rout, to History and Archaeology Majors who were running around like kids in a candy store. Needless to say, it is Rome, and it is not humanly possible to see everything in one day, but thanks to a miraculously nonexistent line at the Vatican museum, we got to see some spectacular sites. A few people even still had time to buy some good Italian leather and visit what Sam considers to be the best Gelato place in Rome. When we got back to boat, everyone got dressed up (or as dressed up as you can when you don’t have a shower) and we all went out to dinner and had good Italian Pizza. After dinner was our second night out. For those of us taking oceanography, this night had to be cut a little short since our Oceanography papers are due. All in all, Rome rocked!!!
