Today was Rome day! We woke up bright and early to catch a morning train and beat the crowds. As a group, we visited the Coliseum and the Roman Forum. In our group, we had everything from people who had already been to Rome and took a leisurely route to History and Archaeology Majors who were running around like kids in a candy store. Needless to say, it is Rome, and it is not humanly possible to see everything in one day. Still, thanks to a miraculously nonexistent line at the Vatican Museum, we got to see some spectacular sites. A few people still had time to buy some good Italian leather and visit what Sam considers to be the best gelato place in Rome. When we got back to the boat, everyone got dressed up (or as dressed up as you can when you don’t have a shower), and we all went out to dinner and had good Italian Pizza. After dinner was our second night out. For those of us taking oceanography, this night had to be cut a little short since our Oceanography papers are due. All in all, Rome rocked!!!
