Location: Gustavia, St. Barths
Today we woke up to a windy, overcast day, in other words, a perfect day for sailing. With classics week coming up in a few days, we went out to face the 30 some knots of wind to practice tacking back and forth. We sailed over huge swells that made it difficult to climb from the leeward side to the windward side of the boat, and the brave Argonauts that dared to work the jib were fully submersed in salty waves. After a necessary snack break, we headed towards St. Barth’s to anchor. With fewer classes now, many of us got the rest of the day to relax, go to shore, or watch movies. Some of us, however, spent our free time to tally up the remaining numbers of phytoplankton and zooplankton for our research projects. As it being day 80, we’ve all been studying and putting the final touches on all sorts of projects and papers that are due in the next few days. As the trip nears the end, the days seem to be getting shorter, and we are all starting to prepare ourselves for the real world again. Only ten days left, and the thought of leaving Argo becomes more and more difficult to face since it has become our home away from home.
