Location: Underway to Grenada

This is your favorite skipper speaking! The day started late today, after an eventful turtle watch yesterday. Anticipation arose all morning as we prepared the boat for our longest passage to Grenada. After a couple of us went diving to finish our PADI open water certificate, we were doing the pre-cruise checklist for this adventure. As we started to raise the sails, a storm approached us; the horizon was covered by the mist. It felt like we were sailing into the abyss. As we practiced our roles and calls, stronger winds started hitting with the heavy rainfall. After winds started to approach 20 knots and lighting started to get closer, we were sent to the main saloon. To lighten up the mood, I started playing some music so everyone could relax. Followed by a well-prepared pizza dish for dinner cooked by Mia. The storm cleared out, followed by a beautiful sunset opening the open waters.

As the only Brazilian on this boat, It was quite interesting living with Americans. Yet, they are really accepting of my culture, and I’m sure that Charlie, Kebo, and Syd will be speaking fluent Portuguese by day 80!
