This morning, four of the shipmates (Emily, Priscilla, John, and I) and Beaker woke up at 5 a.m. to go for a dawn hike on our last morning in Ile Fourche. When we got to the top of the rocky hill, we saw the sun rising through the clouds. It was a great way to start the morning. After we returned to Ocean Star, we had a delicious breakfast of tropical fruit salad and fluffy pancakes. Then we finished preparing the boat to sail and commenced our 25 nm sail to the historical island of St Eustatius. We navigated there without using the ship’s electronics, using our new knowledge and skills from our MTE course. When we arrived, we struck sails and had an oceanography class, and later a great dinner (prepared by Jess and Zack) of penne and marinara sauce, sausages, and the rare treat of a desert, apple crisp. It was another superb day.
