Location: Shelter Bay Marina, Colon, Panama

Hello friends and family!
Today was a super fun day. We started off with a breakfast of overnight oats with strawberries and bananas made by our head chef, Melina, and two sous chefs, Pieter and Olivia. We then got ourselves ready, lathered bug spray and sunblock, filled water bottles, and packed lunches for our hike! We then headed out, stopped by the mini-mart at the marina, and bought cold drinks for our afternoon. We then began our walk and noticed we accidentally made a wrong turn, so we turned back. Eventually found the right road. It was so beautiful! There were a lot of monkeys and cool birds, and some even mentioned that they had seen an anteater. The leaves and trees were so green and tall. As I was hiking with Pieter, Olivia, Penelope, and Sandra (everyone kind of spread out and went their own pace), we forgot where we were told to turn, so we accidentally ended up taking the wrong path. We stopped to take a break and eat some lunch. Penelope climbed a tree, and then we began our trek back to the road and continued our walk. We eventually called Anna, who shared her location with us, and we finally found the fort, San Lorenzo. We walked around and took pictures of the incredible view, taking it all in. It’s one of the best hikes, hands down. We then turned around, and I walked with Sam; we had a wonderful conversation and got to know one another.

We arrived back at the boat and had Leadership class. We watched a TedTalk by Sylvia Earl, and we had to answer a couple of questions on it and had a discussion afterward. I am a big fan of Sylvia Earl, so I paid close attention to what she was talking about. Afterward, we had some pasta and squeezed it. Our appreciation for today and for the question I asked, “If you were to own a boat, what would you name it?” there were a lot of great answers; I said I would name my boat Jackson after my dog. Overall, it was a great day. We were all tired and very sore, but it was definitely worth it.

(Hi, mom and dad! I love and miss you so much. Thank you for supporting me during this insane experience. Give Hunter lots of pets for me)
