Location: English Harbour, Antigua
After a quick nap, the crew arose at midnight to raise the sails and the anchor to depart for Antigua. The sail began quite lovely, with clear moonlight skies and a steady breeze. However, mid-passage, the wind and weather turned, with sheets of rain and giant swells flooding the deck at times. Nevertheless, we arrived in Antigua near our ETA and tied the stern to the dock in English Harbour. As it is our first time not needing dinghy rides to shore, most crew members are enjoying the freedom. Well, being Sunday, and most everything is closed, we headed to the only party on the island: Shirley Heights. It wasn’t hard to understand why National Geographic named Shirley Heights “the best place to spend a Sunday evening.” With a 20-piece steel band, enormous BBQ, and views of several harbors in the sunset, I think most would say it was our best night out.
