Location: English Harbour, Antigua

It was a laidback day aboard the good ship Ocean Star. As we are currently stern-to in historic Nelson’s Dockyard, the crew is enjoying the luxuries of an easily accessible marina. We have been pampered with freshwater showers, flush toilets, and high-speed wifi access for all our gigabyte needs. This morning, we started the day off with a hearty breakfast and swiftly moved along to an OCE quiz and MTE class. All the while, the smell of shore was wafting below, tempting the crew to take full advantage of their day’s freedom. Some took the bus into St. John’s (Antigua’s capital) to see what the big city had to offer, and others spent the day enjoying the dockyard’s hikes, beaches, and snorkeling sites. We reconvened for our evening’s meal, and the crew is currently busy washing up dishes and rinsing the deck. Tonight, they’ll have an oceanography class, and then we’ll all have some free time for ice creams, coffees, and, of course, last-minute emailing needs. Special congrats are going out onboard today to Adam, who has just received word of his college acceptance.
