Location: Les Saintes

Because it was a stormy Monday, not many of the stores and shops were open, and the customs office was not opening till late afternoon, so we could not clear into the country. We took the opportunity to give our Oceanography presentations while waiting to be able to go ashore. After giving our presentations and having lunch on board, we had study time before taking our MTE sailing midterm. Eventually, we were cleared to enter the country and went ashore for some free time and a nice dinner out. Most of the shops in town were closed half the day, either for siesta or just because the shop owners didn’t feel like opening in the rain. This small, sleepy French town in the low Caribbean hills was very mellow and peaceful.
