Shore day in Grenada! Gruh-nay-duh, as the locals pronounce it. Today, everyone woke up to me blasting my favorite song, Life is a Highway, throughout the entire boat, followed by many other fan-favorite tunes. Breakfast was yogurt and cereal laid out by our wonderful chefs Corinne, Max, and Allie. Shortly after, we all gathered in the saloon for Nautical Science (aka Seamanship) with Captain Freddie, who recapped the parts of Ocean Star, parts of a sail, points of sail (based on wind direction), and a tangent about the golden globe circumnavigation competition? Drawing a diagram of a two-masted schooner is a lot harder than it seems. Nautical Science was quickly followed by Oceanography, with Heather teaching us about guyouts, hotspots, and the transition from continent to the ocean. Those of us opting to pack our lunch for time on shore quickly made sandwiches before loading into dinghies and being dropped off on a nearby dock/beach. There were visits to spice/craft markets for local nutmeg and cinnamon, snack shopping at the grocery store, souvenirs bought at the local Spiceland mall, a quick soccer game for Guigo, and a few minutes of wifi had by all in the Fork and Knife Cafe. While waiting for the dinghy to pick us up, many even had the chance to take a quick swim on the beach, the highlight being a sea snake scare that turned out to be a snake eel. Olivia presented her leadership chapter, teaching us the difference between a leader and a manager with some fun truth or myth questions. Flips have become quite the staple during boat shower time with the current challenge of someone trying to successfully complete a double flip without face planting or having an entirely red back. Two new toys were brought aboard Ocean Star today…Pool noodles (aka spaghetti noodles) that quickly transformed into orange and pink light sabers. Dinner was delicious, loaded nachos, and we finished the day with the classic question: What do you want to do when you grow up?…a funny question to ask seventeen adults. Grenada has been a blast, but tomorrow morning, we will depart for Carriacou in search of more fun adventures!
Companionway 1, Alaina 0. A recent tumble down the companionway stair ladder in the rain landed me a fractured and dislocated toe, but the show must go on! That’s what the other nine toes are for.

Hi, family and friends! Miss you all! I can’t wait to show you all of the amazing pictures from the last few days! If only I could put them on here for all of you to see!

Skipper Alaina signing out.
