Location: Underway to Tahiti!

My watch team (3) had the 12-4 AM watch today. We all went to sleep late, as we finished watching Hunger Games. Our watch team had a very productive watch. We finished most of our tasks. After having our midnight breakfast, Carla and I scrubbed the bilges with WD-40 for an hour with our headlamps on and listening to music. We had a lot of fun doing that and felt like extremely helpful crew members. Engineer Elise walked past us, half asleep, to deal with the generator. Once we finished, Magda and Ted went down to scrub the sole, and Charlie and Kirby went down later to organize the snack cabinet and the pots and pans.

Drew managed to get Charlie out in Booya as soon as he came back up. After that, we talked about what Cosmo would be like as President. We think he’d arrange a partnership between the White House and Beats and give out free headphones. We saw squalls on the radar throughout our entire watch and were hoping to miss them. More started appearing, though, so we woke up Ula to figure out what to do. We tried to avoid them, which did not work. It started raining 30 minutes before our watch ended, and we all got drenched, as we did not have enough time to put our foul weather gear on. When we were all cold and wet, Carla pointed out the bioluminescence the rain was causing, which was really nice. The rain also reminded us all of home. We were all very happy to get relieved by watch team 1. They had rain for about an hour on their watch. Our watch team hung up all our wet clothes and PFDs in one of the heads for them to dry off. A few people made some tea. I, unfortunately, had my PJs on in the rain, so I did not have any to sleep in. We all went to bed with wet hair. This was the first night I did not have to put my fan on to fall asleep.
During lunch, another school of tuna swam by the boat. Smash baked some really good cookies for us. We had a double science day today. The oceanography class was about aquaculture. We had a 30-minute break after that (unless on watch), and nearly every one took a nap. Guest lecturer Tom showed us his video of sperm whales giving birth during Marine Bio, which was amazing. The actual lecture was about the deep sea, and we got to see pictures of really weird-looking animals with strange behaviors.
After that, we got to go for a swim, as it was finally calm enough to do that again. Even most of the staff joined in. We were jumping off the bow sprit, and there were very few jellyfish which was really nice. We also enjoyed ocean showers, which we had not had in a very long time. We got to dry off in the sun afterward until Elise started the engine again, and we had to get our PFDs. Most of us spent the rest of the time until dinner up on deck and just talked upon deck.
