Location: English Harbour, Antigua
Early this morning, we arrived in Antigua after an all-night passage from Deshaies. Approaching English Harbour is amazing because it is a fairly well-hidden bay. Once inside, you are surrounded by some of the most beautiful yachts you could possibly imagine. We docked Ocean Star in Nelson’s Dockyard, which grants us the luxury of getting on land as we desire. Most of our morning was spent doing an intense boat appreciation and very large provisioning. After lunch, we got to explore Nelson’s dockyard, which is one of the most beautiful and quaint places I’ve ever seen. You could just feel the history in your surroundings as you wander around the rustic cottages and boathouses. In the early evening, we set out to our dinner and night out at Shirley Heights, where twice a week, they throw a huge BBQ and party on this amazing hilltop overlooking the harbor. We hiked up the mountain to the sounds of Halcyon, a local steel drum band. When we arrived, we got our dinner and followed Simon’s lead to sit on the rooftop to watch the sunset and all of the people having a great time. After dinner, we danced to a reggae band that led the party into the night. All in all, this was an amazing day.
