Today was amazing. After breakfast we headed ashore to begin our ascent of “The Quill” a dormant volcano that is the centerpiece of Statia’s beautiful geography. The hike started at sea level and meandered through lush forest on the way to the edge of the crater. Once at the top, the group took in the magnificent scenery and some headed down to town while others opted to explore the surrounding botanical gardens. Most of the crew met at a favorite Chinese restaurant and enjoyed sizzling platters of meat, a well deserved treat after the day’s activity. Internet and shopping were also on the list for some while others headed back to Ocean Star to study and prepare for their final exams. The day ended with an Oceanography class, after which a restful sleep was had by all.
