Location: Underway to Madeira
At midnight on the dot, the few of us still awake sang Happy Birthday to Caroline. In the morning, I woke everyone up by playing ‘Sweet Caroline,” and after breakfast, we left Gibraltar and made our final passage through the Mediterranean. We saw Morocco across the water, and everyone was a bit sad that we wouldn’t be able to go, but the open Atlantic ahead quickly brought the mood back up. For lunch, we had deliciously textured stir fry made by Amanda, and watch team three raised the sails under the guidance of Hilary. After a smooth few hours of sailing, we ate Miso Ramen for dinner and told our favourite moment with Caroline during the squeeze. Then we ate cookie cake made by Del and went to bed for the first time on the Atlantic Ocean, out of sight of land.
