Location: Tortolla, BVI
I woke up this morning and realized that I got to celebrate my favorite holiday sailing in the Caribbean with my favorite people… MAN AM I LUCKY?! The day started rather early as we ate a breakfast of lemon poppy seed muffins and cereal at 7:00. Following breakfast, we cleaned up quickly and headed over to Ocean Star for an early morning sail. We sailed her for three hours with a 33 member crew and got to raise 5/6 sails, which was SO much fun. It was chaotic at first as we tacked, and all sails switched sides of the boat at different times, but so much fun in the end as we learned to work together to make the boat sail like a true cruising vessel. After sailing on Ocean Star, we returned to our homeland on Firebolt and began passage preparation as we headed back to the West End of the BVI. During this preparation, we cleaned our boat to leave it better than we found it, and did so in a swift manner. As we arrived in Soper’s Hole, we landed an excellent Mediterranean Mooring lead by Captain Kris, and we threw our lines to the deckhands as if we were professional sailors. Upon landing our time in Tortola, we finished cleaning the boat and began our time onshore, which we filled with shopping and lots of Gelato. Around 5:00, our crew returned to the boat, showered and ready for a fun night eating at ‘Fish and Line,’ located across the bay in Soper’s Hole.
After eating, a dance show naturally broke out, lead by our own, Rivers Dickerson, and it was a sight to be seen. We couldn’t have asked for a more fun night in Tortola, surrounded by our newest best friends on such an incredible night. People usually say that it takes more than 20 days to really get to know someone, but this trip defied all odds. This Firebolt crew is now more than friends, they’re my family, and for that, I am forever grateful. This trip has been such a life-changing experience, and it wouldn’t have been the same without each member of this crew. Twenty days have never flown by so fast in my entire life, but that’s what makes it so special. Thank you so incredibly much to those who supported your children on this amazing adventure. They made a difference in my life, and without them, Seamester wouldn’t have been the same. We will see you soon, blog followers!
